Level 1: Proofreading
Spelling, punctuation and basic grammar are the focus. You're pretty sure your piece is as close to complete as possible, but you want that final professional polish.

Level 2: Light Copyediting
A sentence-by-sentence look at the piece. In addition to perfecting the spelling, punctuation and basic grammar, some sentences may be reworded for clarity, but the structure of the piece stays intact down to the level of the sentence.

Level 3: Medium Copyediting
A paragraph-by-paragraph examination. Basic proofreading will be accompanied by rewriting of some sentences and paragraphs to perfect the flow, but the basic structure of the piece is left intact down to the level of the paragraph.

Level 4: Heavy Copyediting
The entire work is proofed and edited, not just for improved structure of sentences and paragraphs, but for overall flow and impact. This may involve tearing the entire piece apart at the seams and rewriting or rearranging considerable amounts of it. At this level of editing, back and forth phone/email contact with the writer may be necessary, to make sure the original intent is understood and adhered to, and to fill in missing facts.

Level 5: WriterQuick
